One of our favorite sauces is the BBQ sauce sold at the City Market BBQ in Luling, TX. We picked up a massive bottle of the sauce (contained in an old Lipton Iced Tea Mix bottle) while we were living in the Houston area. That’s the type of place it is — downhome and informal. The sauce is an orange/brown color and is buttery smooth to the taste. We have used it for chicken and pork … even fish. It was a perfect match for our homemade fried salmon cakes (a staple in our household). The sauce finally ran out this week … creating a bit of a panic. I guess I’ll try to order some more, but I’m not sure if they ship sauce this far away. Guess I’ll try to find out today.
Luling, TX is a true BBQ mecca and a must-visit town for the true Q devotee. Have a look below for a couple of shots from the original Luling City Market. Such a cool place — and really good food!
As I’ve said many times, you can’t judge a book by its cover!
