Casey Key, FL

15 Jun

Spent Fathers’ Day morning on Casey Key, which is the next key south of Siesta Key. The surf was very calm, so we spent the morning floating around in the beautiful emerald green waters. Casey Key is an exclusive area with virtually no shops or restaurants. One exception to this rule is the wonderful Casey Key Fish House, which can be found almost immediately after you cross the north draw bridge to the island. The Fish House offers fresh daily catches and a great view of the bay. It’s not a particularly upscale place, but the chef’s specialty is bouillabaisse. Can’t wait to give that a whirl. I have dined there for lunch on two different occasions — had the grouper and the mahi sandwiches … both were tasty.

Casey Key is a stunningly beautiful, unspoiled island. You will see some amazing mansions owned by celebs like Stephen King, Martina Navratilova, Oprah Winfrey, and the Gotti family. We snapped a few pictures as we cruised the only road that carries you the length of the key. Looks like Beverly Hills, doesn’t it?

Most homes overlook the Gulf of Mexico. Here is a view looking west to the gulf.

It was a great way to spend the morning. Happy Fathers’ Day, y’all!
