Tom Petty’s New/Old Project

5 Jun

The band is called “Mudcrutch.” Bad name, good CD. It’s actually the band Tom Petty and a couple of the Heartbreakers were in before the record company busted them up back in 1975. Going full circle, Petty recently got all the boys back together to have another go at it. A couple weeks in the studio produced some of the old Mudcrutch magic and a pretty darn good record. Check out the video for the first single, “Scare Easy.” You gotta love, Petty. He continues to rock after decades of hard living. Old TP is hard to look at, but easy on the ears in these days of packaged, processed Top 40 garbage. Some may consider him a dinosaur, yet I will be a sad guy when Tom and his type are not around anymore.

This is what new CD cover looks like – pretty bizarre.

I do love Petty, and I for one do not find him hard to look out.
