Glen Campbell’s best record ever?

16 May

A good question to spark some Friday debate.

My pick is Galveston with Wichita Lineman a close second.

There’s also By the Time I Get to PhoenixGentle on my Mind, Dreams of the Everyday Housewife (a little cheesy for my taste), Southern Nights (a terrific Allen Toussaint composition), and even Rhinestone Cowboy.

A better question might be where would Campbell’s career gone without the magic pen of Jimmy Webb?

Lay off the booze and pills, Glen. You may still have one more comeback left in you. Jimmy Webb, where are you?

Hi – I’m a big Jimmy Webb fan, and enjoyed your comments
Met Jimmy recently – check out my article on WordPress
and Jimmy’s website: Jimmy Webb Music
He was warm, gracious host at our little get-together, and even played some of his songs, like “The Highwayman.”
What a thrill to have a legend there
